This 1950s bracelet takes its name from its interlocked rectangular panels, a design first popularized in the Victorian era and named for the way the linked sections resemble the bars of a garden gate. The style was traditionally fastened with a padlock clasp, and its architectural, repeating link structure has made it a recognizable and enduringly popular bracelet form since the 19th century.

Rose gold experienced a strong resurgence in this exact period, having become fashionable again from the mid-1930s through the 1950s after platinum was declared a wartime metal and restricted from civilian jewelry use, pushing designers back toward warmer gold tones. The soft rose hue seen here reflects that broader Retro-era preference, distinct from the cooler white metals that had dominated the preceding Art Deco period.

The fine safety chain attached alongside the main clasp is a practical security feature commonly added to bracelets of this era. At 7.5mm wide and 20cm long, the bracelet's solid gate-link construction gives it a substantial, tactile presence while remaining comfortable for everyday wear.
