Dating from the 1920s, this Deja Vu 18ct Yellow Gold .50ct Sapphire Marquise Ring is a beautiful example of the era's love for elongated, dramatic silhouettes, its marquise-shaped halo giving the whole design a striking vertical presence on the finger. At its heart sits an original oval sapphire of a rich, royal blue hue, prized for its depth and clarity of colour.
The sapphire is encircled by a double halo of old cut diamonds, their soft, warm brilliance typical of the period's hand-faceted stones, with the outer points of the marquise shape tapering elegantly to a fine point at top and bottom. Some of the diamond and sapphire claws have been sensitively retipped to secure the stones for continued wear, preserving the ring's original character while ensuring it remains structurally sound. The shoulders are decorated with attractive scroll work, a decorative flourish entirely consistent with 1920s design sensibilities, adding movement and refinement to the transition from the ornate top to the plain yellow gold band.
