After Loss Valuations & Insurance

Our experienced team are here to guide you through the insurance process; from proof of purchase for new purchases, after loss valuations and a second opinion, to replacement jewellery and custom design options.

New Purchases

If you've recently purchased a new item of jewellery, we recommend checking your insurance policy so you can decide if you need special/individual cover. To insure your jewellery, you will need proof of purchase - Walker & Hall provide a valuation, certificate of purchase or receipt with all purchases.

We recommend taking photos of your jewellery and storing them with the valuation/proof of purchase in a safe place separate to where your jewellery is stored.

Loss Of An Item

We understand that the loss and/or theft of your jewellery can be particularly upsetting – especially with heirloom pieces or when special memories are attached. If you would like to replace your jewellery, we can help with the process.

We can help you with after loss valuations, a second opinion if needed, replacement jewellery and ongoing credit.

  • Jewellery often needs to be individually listed on an insurance policy for it to be covered by the policy. Jewellery item limits apply and vary based on insurer and policy type, please refer to your policy for further information.

  • If your jewellery has been regularly
    serviced and checked, your repair or gemstone replacement may be covered by your insurance policy. If the damage or gemstone loss is a result of wear or if your jewellery has not been service regularly, your repair may not be covered by your insurance policy. Please refer to your policy for more information.
    Walker & Hall can provide a repair quote for damaged jewellery and lost gemstones.

  • The first step is to contact your insurance company and open an insurance claim. From there, an after loss valuation is usually required. Walker & Hall can help with the after loss valuation process and help you establish the value of your jewellery if it were to be replaced at a present day price.

  • If you are based in Auckland, we highly recommend booking an appointment with our insurance specialist Raj, at our Anzac Ave Showroom, to work through an after loss valuation.

    We understand that dealing with the loss of your jewellery is a difficult time and we do not charge for this service.

  • Once your insurance claim has been approved you have the right to choose where you would like to go to replace your jewellery. Our skilled gemologist and jewellers can work with you to recreate your lost piece or you may wish to choose from our wide selection of diamond, gold, sterling silver, coloured stone and Designer jewellery.

    If you have an insurance claim that is being handled by JVC you may be offered the GemSelect card as a convenient way to replace your jewellery. Your GemSelect card can be used in any Walker & Hall store.

  • We understand that the loss and/or theft of your jewellery can be particularly upsetting – especially with heirloom pieces or when special memories are attached. If you would like to replace your jewellery, we can help with the process.

    Our experienced team can talk you through the custom design process to recreate your lost piece or you may wish to choose from our wide selection of diamond, gold, sterling silver, coloured stone and Designer jewellery.

    You can take your time selecting replacement jewellery as your insurance credit is applied to your customer account at your preferred Walker & Hall store.

  • If you have an insurance claim that is being handled by JVC you may be offered the GemSelect card as a convenient way to replace your jewellery. Your GemSelect card can be used in any Walker & Hall store.

    Once your claim value has been confirmed and you have received your new GemSelect card, you will need to activate the GemSelect
    card online at www.gemselect.co.nz at least 24 hours prior to using it in
    store. Your GemSelect card will be loaded with the value of your claim and will be used like an electronic gift card with a reducing balance. Gemselect cards are available for use in store only.
